Doctor on call? Scaling Telehealth in India

In 2020, as a part of the IET India Digital Conversations on 'Telehealth – breaking stereotypes and embracing technology', we brought healthcare experts to explore the benefits of telehealth platforms, the key challenges that need to be addressed to increase its adoptability and what is required from the government, medical workforce and platforms to make telehealth consultation a user-friendly experience for both practitioners and patients.

This year we sought answers questions like how healthcare delivery will be different due to telehealth.

What are the changes required to use telehealth for preventive care and for care delivery? How is India advancing in this area compared to other countries?

Speakers for the discussion included:

  • Arvind Sivaramakrishnan, CIO, Apollo Hospitals
  • Bharat Gera, Founder, Human Centric Health Ecosystem
  • Dr Uma Nambiar, Executive Director, Gimcare Hospital & Chairperson, DHIA
  • Dr Oommen John, Fellow, International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI)

Moderator: Dr Vikram Venkateswaran, Founder & Managing Editor, Healthcare-in-India.net

Watch the video to gain expert views on the impact of telehealth on the entire healthcare ecosystem – modality and delivery of care, skills that need to be in place and how the ecosystem should evolve to support this scale.
