Tamil Nadu, Feb 2, 2020: Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy Deemed to be University, (Thanjavur & Kumbakonam) has been awarded the maximum outcome in India for the IET’s International Accreditation for 9 of its engineering programmes. IET accreditation is an internationally recognised benchmark, awarded to high quality programmes that provide an ideal preparation for aspiring professional engineers.
SASTRA University (Thanjavur and Kumbakonam campuses) applied for IET Accreditation in 2015 and 12 of their B.Tech programmes from the Schools of Electrical & Electronics, Computing, Mechanical, Chemical & Biotechnology are now IET accredited. This accreditation was awarded for a term of full five years and will have a positive impact spreading over 9 graduating batches from 2016 to 2024. In addition to validating the quality of the institution’s programmes, IET Accreditation also provides direct benefits to students graduating from SASTRA Deemed to be University. It allows better International mobility, job prospects and acceptance of graduate students in foreign universities and opportunities for interdisciplinary research as well as exchanges.
With the successful completion of the Accreditation Process, SASTRA Deemed to be University will join the IET’s 85+ Academic Partners across the globe giving them access to other international academic partners and international collaboration.

IET accreditation, licensed by the Engineering Council, covers a broad spectrum of engineering and technology subjects. It is recognised around the world as an indicator of quality through the Washington and Sydney Accords, governed by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA). Institutions with IET Accredited programmes are eligible to apply for the EUR-ACE label, awarded by European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE).
